Taste Buds. MayJun24

Ed’s Letter

This year, Taste Buds turns 20. We’re celebrating (a little early) in this issue, by featuring some of Devon’s other ‘20-year-olds’. These pubs, restaurants, delis, bakeries and organisations have reached at least 20 years of trading, many have led by example in their field and continue to inspire other local food and drinks businesses.

It wouldn’t be May in Devon without the Devon County Show. With plenty on offer, from agriculture and farming to interiors and children’s entertainment, this year’s highlights include a food focus, with around 70 exhibitors. There’s the Demonstration Kitchen, the Cider and Dairy Show, and also lots of opportunities to taste some amazing local produce.

BBQ season is here. And we have some clever money- and waste-saving tips from Recycle Devon on how to use up leftover fruit and veg while making delicious food for your guests on a budget.

If you’re planning to eat out, we highly recommend trying Home Farm Café’s evening menu. The new co-owners are working hard to create something really special with a very exciting menu. Plus, we’re running a competition to win a meal for two, so now’s your chance to check it out.

We hope you get the opportunity to enjoy the other various festivals, tours and courses taking place around the county – you can find details on our events pages.
