A Taste of the West Country (2019)

We think the West Country’s food scene is among the best in the world. Why? Our rich pastures, clear waters, and dedicated farmers and producers who share a passion for their land and products, alongside exacting standards of animal husbandry, all go a long way to make this a winning combination. Add to this, the skilled chefs who seek out the best ingredients and turn them into delicious plates of locally-produced food – and there is the answer. It’s teamwork – West Country style!

Reduced food miles, traceability and welfare standards – all of these are key topics in the food industry and for consumers. With many producers offering field-to-fork schemes and restaurants featuring local menus, you can be sure of the best.

This deserves celebrating, and every year sees hundreds of entries into the coveted Taste of the West Awards. Now in its fifth year, our recipe book, A Taste of the West Country, is a pairing of these award-winning chefs and producers from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire to bring you special recipes, using the finest local ingredients.
