An example of web design
We designed EcoHeat’s website to have a calm, natural aesthetic that feels at home in the Cotswolds. From the start, we wanted to avoid the hard-edged, high-tech look that so many renewable energy sites fall into. Instead, we built a visual style rooted in the local landscape – using a muted green palette and lots of white space to evoke the clean air and rolling countryside that define the area. This was a deliberate design decision: to connect “clean energy” with “clean environment,” and to show that EcoHeat’s work complements the Cotswolds rather than disrupting it.
When we designed EcoHeat’s website, one of the key objectives was to create a dedicated landing page for referrals from Octopus Energy. Because Octopus has such a distinct and powerful brand identity – with its bold use of purple and playful, high-energy tone – we knew EcoHeat needed its own look and feel that could sit comfortably alongside it without competing for attention. The muted tones were also chosen because they create a visual balance with Octopus’s purple. Our goal was to make visitors arriving from Octopus feel that they’d landed in a related, trustworthy space, while still recognising that EcoHeat is an independent, local company.
We chose photography and layout carefully to support that feeling. We used simple, uncluttered imagery – homes, greenery, and open skies instead of heavy product shots – to soften the visual impression that heat pumps can sometimes have. By presenting installations as neat, well-integrated parts of real homes, the site conveys respect for both local architecture and the natural setting.
We also worked closely on the tone of voice, encouraging EcoHeat to sound personable and grounded. References to trust, service, and straightforward advice make it clear that this isn’t a faceless national brand but a local team improving homes in their own community. We made sure the site included named contacts and clear local details to reinforce that authenticity. In the end, every element – from colour to content – was designed to express EcoHeat’s identity as a company that installs with care for both its customers and the Cotswolds environment it calls home.
