Good web design isn’t just about how your website looks. It’s about what it says, too. That’s why we bring together a dedicated writer and a dedicated designer
Whatever line of work you’re in, chances are there are plenty of other businesses offering something similar.
Look at a few of their websites and you’ll probably find many of them saying much the same thing: professional, reliable, experienced, friendly, great service.
All perfectly good things to be. But if everybody is saying them, how does a customer decide who to choose?
We start by understanding your business and your customers.
What do your customers need to know? What matters to them? What questions do they have? And what is there about your business that could make somebody choose you rather than somebody else?
We’ll talk to you, ask questions and get underneath what you do. From there, we can work out what your website needs to communicate, what pages it needs and how the information should be structured.
You don’t need to have all the answers. Working that out is part of what we do.
We Make Media is run by husband-and-wife team Jeff and Jennie Cooper.
Jennie is a journalist and editor. Her job is to listen, ask the right questions and find the story behind your business. If you don’t have finished copy, she can write your website content for you. If you already have content, she can help edit and shape it where needed.
Jeff is a web designer. He works out how the information should be organised and presented, then designs and builds the website around it.
The words and the design are developed together, with a specialist responsible for each.
Some clients know they need a new website but aren’t sure what it should say or even what pages it needs.
Others already have a website full of content, but it no longer reflects the business or doesn’t give customers much reason to choose them.
And some come to us with excellent content that’s ready to use.
We start wherever you are. We don’t expect you to work out the structure and write all the content before we can start designing.
The content helps determine what deserves prominence, what needs explaining and how someone should move through the site.
That’s why our process is:
Structure → content → design.
Once we know what needs to be communicated, the design has a purpose: to organise the information, establish trust, create personality and make it easy for your customers to take the next step.
If you’re thinking about a new website – or looking again at your existing website – the best place to start is a conversation.
If that feels like a sensible next step, get in touch.
